Did Jamaica’s Auditor General Hold Back On Fully Reporting on Education Boss Dr. Grace McLean?

When the Sunday Gleaner recently reported on conflicts of interest in the spending of billions of dollars of taxpayer funds at entities and programs connected to Jamaica’s Ministry of Education Youth and Information (MoEYI), the minister responsible, Fayval Williams, asked the Auditor General’s Department (AudGen) to expand its probe.
The department led by Pamela Monroe Ellis had cursorily touched on these conflicts in its 2019 report concerning Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), another of the ministry’s troubled entities.
Revealing at the time was that some of these same conflicts also involved the operational head of the ministry, Acting Permanent Secretary (Acting PS) Dr. Grace McLean.
