After U.S. Sanctions on Venezuela, Here's Where Jamaica Now Gets Its Oil
After U.S. sanctions on Venezuela and that country’s own internal oil production woes, Jamaica stopped importing crude oil from its longstanding South American ally in 2017.
That’s according to an Access to Information response to an 18º North request regarding the source and value of Jamaica’s crude supplies from 2015 to 2020.
In 2015, Jamaica imported roughly 8.8 million barrels of oil at an average price of US$46.71 per barrel. Almost 80 percent of it came from Venezuela.
